It is NSNWA’s vision that Indigenous women, girls and gender diverse people have the right to improve their economic conditions through employment, entrepreneurship, education and training.

Barriers to employment for Indigenous women are numerous. NSNWA provides wrap around services and supports to Indigenous Women and Indigenous 2SLGBTQQIA people of Nova Scotia to assist them in attaining their training, employment and entrepreneurial goals.

NSNWA represents the interests of Indigenous women on this priority through our membership in the NSNWA Tripartite Forum, NS Aboriginal Apprenticeship Advisory Committee, Board of Directors for the Mi’kmaq Employment/Training Secretariat and the Nova Scotia Community College Mi’kmaq Joint Working Group Committee.

NSNWA is one of three in Nova Scotia, Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET) Program agreement holders. Utilizing this program NSNWA not only supports individuals but also delivers group training programs identified as being in high demand or of particular interest to our members.
